How do I use case tags to track where a patient is in treatment?

Last updated: 2026-05-26

Case tags are short internal labels you apply to a patient — examples: In treatment, Awaiting lab work, Awaiting consent, Recall in 6 months. They’re visible only to your clinic team, never to the patient. Add or remove from the patient header. Filter the patient list by tag to find every "Open RCT" or "Recall due" patient quickly.

Adding and removing tags

  1. Open the patient.
  2. In the header area, click + Add tag.
  3. Type the tag name or pick from the dropdown of recently used tags.
  4. To remove, hover the tag and click the × icon.

Tag examples that work well

  • In treatment — open multi-visit case.
  • Awaiting lab work — crown / aligner shipping back.
  • Awaiting consent — needs signed form before next visit.
  • Recall in 6 months — for periodic cleanings.
  • High value — flagged for personal-touch follow-up.

Filtering the patient list by tag

Open Patients → click the filter chip at the top → choose a tag. The list narrows to patients with that tag. Useful for "who has an open RCT this month?" or "who needs a recall in the next 30 days?".
