What are Family Cards and how do I sell one?
Last updated: 2026-06-13
A Family Card is a prepaid membership you sell to a household: you set the price, validity, and benefits (free consultations and a standing treatment discount), and every member linked to that family is covered automatically until the card expires. Open Family Cards in the left sidebar, click Sell Family Card, pick the patient and price, and confirm — an invoice is raised on the sale. Family Cards is currently a BETA feature.
Where to find Family Cards
Open Family Cards from the left sidebar — it sits between Patients and Reports. The page has two tabs: Memberships (the families you’ve sold to) and Card Settings (your price and benefits).
Set your price and benefits first
Before selling your first card, open the Card Settings tab and set the defaults that apply to every card you sell: how long a card is valid (in months), the default price, the treatment discount percentage, and whether consultations are free for members. You set these once; selling a card then takes seconds.
Selling a Family Card
- Click Sell Family Card (top right of the Memberships tab).
- Search for the patient by name or mobile and select them.
- Review the covered members. If the patient has family linked, everyone in the household is listed. If not, the card still covers this patient today — and anyone you add to the family later is covered automatically.
- Add family members inline if you want (name, plus an optional mobile — they can share the family’s number).
- Confirm the card price. It pre-fills from your Card Settings default; adjust it for this sale if needed.
- Click Confirm sale. An invoice for the card is raised automatically, and the membership becomes Active.
The member badge on the patient
Once a card is active, a purple Family Card badge appears in the patient’s header showing the expiry date — so reception sees the membership the moment they open the patient. The badge only shows while the card is Active; it disappears when the card expires or is cancelled.
Membership statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Active | The card is valid and benefits are in effect. |
| Upcoming | A renewal bought early. It starts the day the current card expires — no gap in coverage. |
| Expired | Past the expiry date. The Renew button becomes the primary action. |
| Cancelled | Cancelled manually. Benefits stopped from the cancellation date. |
Renewing and cancelling
- Renew — available on Active and Expired cards. Renewal runs from the new start to the new expiry with no coverage gap, and raises a fresh invoice. The renewal price pre-fills from what the family paid last time.
- Cancel — available on Active and Upcoming cards. Member benefits stop immediately. The original card-fee invoice is not changed — handle any refund outside the app, per your clinic’s policy.
Tracking cards at a glance
The Memberships tab shows tiles for Active cards, cards Expiring in the next 30 days, and Card revenue, plus a searchable table. Cards expiring soon are highlighted so reception can call the family before the card lapses. Use the filter pills (All, Active, Scheduled, Expired, Cancelled) to focus the list.
