What do the practice Insights show me?
Last updated: 2026-06-13
Open Reports from the sidebar and select the Insights tab. It reads your consultations, clinical notes, and invoices and turns them into practice intelligence: how many consultations you ran, how many converted to treatment, your case mix, how complete your notes are, and how new patients move from first visit to documented to billed. Use the date-range and doctor filters at the top to scope every panel. Insights is currently a BETA feature.
Where to find Insights
Open Reports, then click the Insights tab (alongside Financial, Appointments, and New Patients). The date-range picker and doctor filter at the top of Reports apply to every Insights panel, so you can look at one doctor or the whole clinic over any period.
The Overview panel
Overview is the headline view. The top tiles summarise the selected period:
- Consultations — how many consultations happened in the period.
- Consult-only — patients who had a consultation but no treatment was done or planned. This is your follow-up list: revenue still on the table.
- Avg note quality — how completely your clinical notes are filled in, as a percentage across all notes in the period. Higher means more structured, complete records.
- Revenue discussed — the treatment value mentioned in consults that hasn’t been invoiced yet, with how much is “at risk” because it wasn’t booked.
- Case-type highlights — counts for your biggest case types in the period (for example Ortho and Implant patients).
Below the tiles, the Note quality trend chart shows whether your notes are getting more complete month over month, and the Case mix donut breaks your consultations down by case type.
First-visit outcomes
This funnel takes patients whose first-ever visit falls in the selected period and shows how many were documented (a clinical note or case tag) and how many were billed (a treatment invoice). It’s the clearest read on how well new patients are being captured and converted — not just seen.
The Conversion panel
Conversion drills into the consult-to-treatment funnel: how many consultations turned into a treatment invoice, how many stayed consult-only, and the revenue at risk from cases that were discussed but not booked. Filter by case type to see which kinds of cases convert best.
The Family panel
The Family panel is a preview of household-level intelligence — recall-due families, average family size, and pediatric coverage — designed to help reception plan outreach by household instead of by individual. Most of its metrics are marked “coming soon” while the data model fills in.
